Content marketing tactics for the connected generation

When you are building a new site you have to be aware of the generational differences, when you try to reach your audience.
The connected generation can be very demanding, when it comes to what they want online.

That´s why the following five content marketing tactics presented by Ryan Hanley, in the book Content Warfare – How to tell your story, find your audience, and win the battle for attention online is something you should consider if you want to be successful.

1. Intimacy

The young people from the connected generation want to know and see that there is a human being behind your brand.

2. Vulnerability / humility

You have to be able to admit that you have failed and to always be honest.

3. Rich media

The connected generation often wants to build deeper relationships and connections with different brands, before they do any business with them online. Thats why you have to move beyond text and incorporate audio, video and slideshows on your website.

4. Social proof

Social proof is very important for the connected generation. That´s why you need to have testimonials, recommendations and reviews as a part of your website.

5. Feedback

The connected generation more or less demands feedback, so always respond to comments on your website. Keep the conversations going and try to make the conversations move forward (Hanley.2015:16-17).
